Georgian media monitoring on juvenile crime and persons with disabilities

The project, Development of Media Monitoring Capacities (November 2010 – March 2011), aimed to develop civil society’s role in monitoring the media. As the ’fourth estate,’ media has a powerful role to play in controlling information, and media monitoring remains a powerful tool to hold controllers/watchdogs to account. IREX Europe’s partner in the Georgia Media Strengthening Project, Civic Development Institute, has utilised these lessons to launch media monitoring on juvenile crime and persons with disabilities. The monitoring is carried out on five media outlets: Georgian Public Broadcaster, Imedi, Rustavi-2, Kavkasia and Maestro. To learn more, please visit: http://cdi.org.ge/eng/info/news?info=827
