IREX Europe discussion at Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum 2014

IREX Europe held a discussion on the 1st day of the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany. The discussion tracked the evolution of the Russian blogosphere and how it has changed over the last ten years to become a major phenomenon in the Russian and global media environment.

Members of the Russian media community, scholars, journalists and bloggers discussed these and other questions related to citizen journalism in Russia. The workshop also looked at the prospects of media development in the country given the fact that its population is swiftly moving online, making the Internet the Number One source of information for younger audiences.

2,300 visitors from 120 countries met at the Global Media Forum - June 30th-July 2nd to discuss issues surrounding the topic of this year’s conference, "From Information to Participation– Challenges for the Media."
