IREX Europe Debate on Migration and Development Aid

IREX Europe, in collaboration with Esprits Critiques, is holding a public debate on migration and development aid in Lyon, France, on March 12th, 2016. The debate will be held at the Catholic University of Lyon.

Discussants will include:
- Marie-Christine Vergiat, European Deputy
- Luciano Loiacono, Handicap International
- Jean-François Ploquin, Forum Réfugiés-Cosi

Support from the European Union is a crucial part of the worldwide effort to eradicate poverty and promote stability and remains a crucial tool to prevent migration in the first place. However, European governments continue to reduce development aid in light of the ongoing refugee crisis. France, for instance, has reduced their support by 6.1% in 2016. The Swedish Government is studying a proposal to reduce their development aid budget by up to 60%.

The discussion is open to the public but we ask that you please confirm your attendance to Flora Graioni (fgraioni@irexeurope.eu)
