IREX Europe’s documentary “In Search of Freedom” has been preselected by the international festival “A Film For Peace”. “In Search of Freedom” was produced and filmed in Bangladesh and portrays young Bangladeshis talking about issues of importance to them such as education, gender equality and extremism in the context of the promise of the Bangladeshi constitution and the hopes of the first years of independence and the realities of today. The film was shown to over 90,000 Bangladeshis in rural villages using a “mobile cinema” and was followed by discussion sessions on these issues and the compatibility of democracy and Islam. Now “In Search of Freedom” is being shown in Italy, with its first screening in the town of Cormons in North East Italy on Thursday the 9th of June, as part of this important international festival.
